Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone, better known by his stage name Sylvester Enzio Stallone, was an American actor, playwright, and director. He struggled as an actor for many years after moving to New York City in 1969 and then Hollywood in 1974.
For his co-starring part as Stanley Rosiello in The Lords of Flatbush, he received his first critical praise. After that, Stallone gradually found work as an extra or supporting actor in movies with sizable budgets until, starting in 1976 with his portrayal of boxer Rocky Balboa in the first movie of the popular Rocky series (1976–present), for which he also wrote the screenplays, he experienced his greatest critical and commercial success as an actor and screenwriter.
Sylvester Stallone: Career
Stallone was the third performer in movie history to receive nominations for both the Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay Academy Awards in 1977. Rocky, starring Sylvester Stallone, was added to the National Film Registry, and the Smithsonian Museum now houses its props.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s main entrance was used by Stallone in the Rocky film series, earning the place the moniker “Rocky Steps.” Rocky has a statue that is permanently located close to the museum in Philadelphia, and he was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Unless they were Rocky sequels, Stallone’s movies did not have significant box office success until 1982, and none of them got the same level of critical praise as the original Rocky. This changed when he played the PTSD-afflicted soldier John Rambo in the popular action movie First Blood. First Blood’s script was originally meant to be a David Morell adaptation, but Stallone made considerable changes to it while the movie was being made.
Five Rambo movies would feature Stallone in the role (1982–2019). Stallone would go on to become one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors of that time by acting in a number of commercially successful action movies that were, however, largely derided by critics from the mid-1980s through the late 1990s.
Stallone has had three marriages. On December 28, 1974, he married Sasha Czack at the age of 28. They had two sons: Seargeoh (born 1979), who was diagnosed with autism at a young age, and Sage Moonblood Stallone (1976–2012), who passed away from heart problems at the age of 36.
On February 14, 1985, the couple filed for divorce. On December 15, 1985, Stallone wed actress and model Brigitte Nielsen in Beverly Hills, California. The tabloid press made a big deal out of their brief two-year marriage and subsequent divorce. Stallone wed Jennifer Flavin in May 1997; they have three kids together, named Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet. At the 74th Golden Globe Awards, his daughters will serve as two of the ambassadors.
Sophia Stallone (born Sophia Rose Stallone in Miami, Florida on on August 27, 1996) is the daughter of Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone and model Jennifer Flavin. She currently attends the University of Southern California. Sophia Stallone is most well-known for being Sylvester Stallone’s daughter. Along with her sisters Sistine and Scarlet, she served as Miss Golden Globes at the 2017 award presentation.
