Prince Harrys New Memoir: According to his much-anticipated memoir, Prince Harry used illegal drugs at age 17, begged his father not to remarry, and killed 25 Taliban fighters while serving in the British army.
The news about the royal family in the book was all over the front pages and airwaves in Britain on Friday because it was so juicy and personal. It was supposed to come out next week, but early copies got out, and then, by mistake, it went on sale early in Spain.
This happened despite tight security around the book’s release. NBC News has seen and translated parts of a Spanish version of Harry’s book “Spare,” which tells his side of the bitter royal split.
The new information, including the claim that his brother, Prince William, hit him during a fight in 2019, will add fuel to an already heated family dispute. Their father, King Charles III, has only been in power for four months.
Harry’s representatives didn’t want to say anything on the record. Kensington Palace, which works for William, and Buckingham Palace, which works for Charles, both refused to say anything about the book’s claims.
Daisy McAndrew, a royal commentator, said on NBC’s “TODAY” show that the public might be losing sympathy for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. This is because Harry’s portrayal of the royal family makes them look cold and uncaring.
She said, “I think the public is getting tired of this fast. They will eat it up and read it, but this does nothing to help Harry and Meghan.” Here are some of the book’s most exciting parts.
Drug Abuse: ‘I Didn’t Enjoy It’
When Harry was younger, British tabloids often wrote about how he liked to party, but in “Spare,” he admits to taking illegal drugs. “Of course, I was using cocaine at the time. I went to someone’s house on a hunting weekend and was given a line. Since then, I’ve had more,” he writes.
“It wasn’t enjoyable, and it didn’t make me feel thrilled like it did for other people, but it did make me feel different, which was my main goal. To feel. To be different.” Harry even says he tried to shake up the royal family by using drugs. “As a 17-year-old, I was ready to try almost anything that would change the way things were,” he said. “That’s what I was trying to tell myself, at least.”

The Brothers ‘Begged’ Charles Not To Marry Camilla
Harry writes about how hurt he was when his father married Camilla Parker Bowles after his messy divorce from their mother, Princess Diana. “My father went ahead with his plan, even though Willy and I begged him not to.
We gave him a handshake and told him we wished him the best,” he wrote. “We knew he would be with the woman he had always loved, the woman he was destined to be with from the start.”
Afghanistan Death Toll
Harry writes in detail about his tour in Afghanistan, where he flew Apache helicopters in the southern Helmand province as a member of the British Army Air Corps. His words have already caused outrage at home and abroad. He wrote that he killed 25 enemy people. “It didn’t make me happy, but I didn’t feel bad about it either,” he says in the book.
“Most soldiers don’t know how many people they’ve killed. When you’re in a battle, you often shoot at random. But now that we have Apaches and laptops, everything I did during my two tours of duty was recorded and given a time stamp,” Harry writes.
Some British media criticized how openly he talked about his military experience. Senior Taliban leaders also criticized how he was said to have spoken about the fighters he killed as “chess pieces removed from the board.”
William Allegedly Physically Attacked Him
A part of the book that has made headlines worldwide is about a meeting between the brothers in 2019 at Harry and Meghan’s old house on the grounds of Kensington Palace in London. According to what Harry writes, William had said that Meghan was hard, rude, and rough.
The fight got worse, and the book says that William finally grabbed Harry by the collar, ripped off his necklace, and knocked him to the ground. “When I landed on the dog’s bowl, it broke, and the pieces cut into my back.
“For a moment, I lay there, confused,” Harry writes. Harry says that after that, he told his brother to leave, which he did, even though at first he told Harry to hit him back. Later, William returned and apologized, Harry writes in the explosive section that The Guardian first reported, but William told Harry not to tell Meghan about the alleged fight.
“‘You mean you beat me up?’ The news reports say that Harry wrote that he replied. “‘I didn’t attack you, Harold,'” he says William told him on the phone. A clip from an interview Harry did with ABC’s “Good Morning America” before it aired shows that in the book, he also calls his brother his “arch-nemesis.”
