Block began racing in 2005 and was immediately recognized as a rising star by being voted Rally America Championship Rookie of the Year. He participated in the World Rally Championship and won multiple X Games medals in the rallycross competition.

The American also created the Gymkhana video series, which he drives on risky tracks and obstacle courses, and co-founded the sportswear firm DC Shoes. Millions of people have seen the series on YouTube.

In 2016, he co-starred with actor and hosted Matt LeBlanc in a segment of the BBC’s revived Top Gear, in which they drove about London. However, the presentation was marred by controversy because it was found that Block and LeBlanc had done donuts, wheelspins, and burnouts all along Whitehall near memorials like the Cenotaph.
