On Sunday, Colorado had bitterly low weather, with highs only reaching the teens. On Sunday into Monday, low temperatures in the Denver metro region will be below zero. Due to the subzero temperatures on Monday, it is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day.
Wind Chill Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory, which will be in force from 7 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday.
The locations in the advisory, indicated on the map in light blue, might experience wind chills as low as 25 below zero.
According to meteorologist Carly Cassady, highs on Monday will be in the teens, and temperatures will return to freezing on Tuesday afternoon.
What Is Wind Chill?
According to the NWS, the wind chill temperature represents how cold it is outside for both humans and animals. The rate of heat loss from exposed skin brought on by wind and cold determines wind chill.
“As the wind increases, it draws heat from the body, driving down the skin and, eventually, the internal body temperature. Therefore, the wind makes it feel much colder.
If the temperature is 0 degrees and the wind blows at 15 mph, the wind chill is minus 19 degrees. At this wind chill temperature, exposed skin can freeze in 30 minutes,” the NWS said. The forecast will continue to be updated several times per day by the Pinpoint Weather team.
