Real Housewives Star Jen Shah Sentenced To Over Six Years For Telemarketing Fraud!

Real Housewives Star Jen Shah Sentenced: On Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Jennifer Shah was sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison for running a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme.

The Justice Department said Friday that the scam involved taking thousands of dollars from elderly and weak people. Shah, 49 years old, had already pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud related to telemarketing.

U.S. District Judge Sidney H. Stein sentenced Shah to five years of supervision after she got out of prison. Stein also told her she had to pay back more than $6.6 million and give up $6.5 million, 30 luxury items, and 78 fake luxury items.

“With her sentence today, Jennifer Shah is finally paying for the years she spent preying on weak and elderly people. Shah and her accomplices lied to these people and told them they would be financially secure, but in reality, they stole their savings and gave them nothing in return.

“In a statement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said the same thing. Shah’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said that the reality TV star “deeply regrets the mistakes she’s made and is very sorry to the people she’s hurt.”

“Jen believes in our justice system, knows that anyone who breaks the law will be punished and agrees that this sentence is fair,” Chaudry said in a statement. “Jen will pay back what she owes to society, and when she is free again, she promises to pay back what she owes to the people she hurt because of her mistakes.”

Prosecutors say Shah was the main person behind a crime that hurt thousands of people all over the country. The scheme was in place from 2012 until she and her assistant Stuart Smith were caught in March 2021.

People who fell for the scam were persuaded to put money into fake business opportunities and pay for services like web design help and tax prep. Court documents say that many of these victims were old people, and some didn’t even own computers.

Shah also gave the victims’ contact information to other people in the giant fraud ring on purpose. Prosecutors say the victims were robbed repeatedly until they had no money left. Prosecutors say Shah then took the money and spent it lavishly on herself and her family.

She also showed off her money on the reality show Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, about wealthy women and their problems. In September, Bravo showed the third season.
