Louis Vuitton has chosen Pharrell Williams as its new creative director for menswear. The musician’s first collection will be revealed in June during Paris’ Men’s Fashion Week, the French luxury fashion brand said in a statement.Β
The founder of the fashion labels Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream clothing, as well as other brands, Williams is a 13-time GRAMMY winner and 39-time nominee. He has also received Emmy and Academy Award nominations for his music.
In addition to producing music, he also produces for film and television. For the movie “Hidden Figures,” which he coproduced, he received an Oscar nomination for best picture in 2016.

He is also involved in various other businesses, such as restaurants, a hotel, Humanrace, a skincare retailer, and other wellness products.
“Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art and fashion β establishing himself as a cultural, global icon over the past twenty years,” Louis Vuitton said in a media release.
“How he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship.”
In 2004 and 2008, Williams worked with Louis Vuitton. He succeeds Virgil Abloh, who was appointed artistic director of Louis Vuitton for the first time as a Black man in 2018.
Abloh, who also launched his fashion label, Off-White, died in 2021 following a private bout with cancer. He was 41.
On Instagram, Williams has only made two posts, the most recent of which announces his new position as creative director at Louis Vuitton. His lone other post features him in front of a statue dedicated to Abloh.
