Nicole Dickerson Obituary: When Did She Die?

In the company of friends and family, Aurora resident Nicole Nicholas Dickerson, 48, passed away on Easter Sunday (April 9, 2023) in Champaign.

Nicole was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, teacher, and daughter. She had the unique capacity to make everyone around her happy. She was incredibly witty, intelligent, fashionable, and entertaining, but at her core, she was honest and served as a bridge for everyone.

In 1992, Nicole graduated from Centennial High School where she was raised in Champaign. At North Central College in Naperville, where they both graduated, she met the love of her life, Jim Dickerson, in her first year.

Above all else, she adored her kids. She had worked in District 204 for 27 years as a fourth-grade teacher at Welch Elementary School in Naperville.

She is also survived by her Champaign-based parents, Jeff and Kathy Nicholas; sister, Kristi Mattox; Champaign-based grandmother, Carla Alsop; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

More than anything, Nicole wanted to assist people, so she signed up to be an organ donor through Gift of Hope.

On April 15, Nicole’s family and friends will gather to honor her life with her friends and acquaintances. At noon, there will be a casual gathering at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s café, 1310 Shepherd Drive, Naperville.

At 1:30, a memorial ceremony will be in the church’s sanctuary. At around 3 p.m., the memorial service for her continues at Fox Bend Golf Course, 3516 U.S. 34, Oswego. There will be food available, and there are refreshments too.
