Both lines of travel on I-80 near West Branch were suffering delays as of 1:45 p.m. due to a crash.
Traffic is being detoured between Exits 259: County Road X40 and 254: County Road X30. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, eastbound travel is experiencing a 12-minute delay. There is a 17-minute delay in westbound traffic.
According to Iowa State Patrol officials, the incident involved many automobiles, and several semi-trucks caught fire. At this time, only minor injuries have been reported.
Responders have arrived on the site. If feasible, travelers should choose another route.
UPDATE: At around 4:45 p.m., officials opened the right lane on I-80 westbound. Traffic is still slightly delayed but moving at a faster pace.
