Following an overnight sh00ting at a gas station in the Colorado Springs area, a woman is deἀd and a suspect is in custody.
Around three in the morning, El Paso County deputies responded to a 911 call at the 7-Eleven near B-Street and South Academy and discovered the victim with severe wounds.
“Upon arrival, the female victim of a shooting was contacted and transported to a local hospital. Tragically, the victim succumbed to her injuries,” according to Cassandra Sebastian of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The 7-Eleven and the nearby fire station in Stratmoor Hills were both enclosed in crime tape when 11 News arrived on the scene. 11 News is attempting to determine how the two sets are related.
Across the highway from the sh00ting scene in Widefield, neighbors living near Fay Drive and Jersey Lane reported seeing a lot of law enforcement activity in the neighborhood. The sheriff’s office later confirmed the location of the suspect.

“El Paso County detectives have been on multiple scenes, and recently developed leads leading to the identification of a person of interest in the shooting. That person was contacted on Fay Drive … brought in for questioning without incident and has been booked in the El Paso County jail on first-degree murder charges,” reported Sebastian.
Kevin Rued, 23, was recognized as the suspect on Sunday afternoon. In a statement from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Rued is also accused of first-degree m*rder and “other related charges” in addition to felony menacing.
Law enforcement activity near the sh00ting was intense for several hours. Late on Sunday morning, the 7-Eleven reopened to customers.

Rued will appear in court on Monday at 1 p.m. He is still being held as of Sunday afternoon.
At this point, the victim’s identity is unknown, and it is also unclear whether the victim and Rued had any kind of relationship.
