Green Book Actor Discovered Dead On A New York City Sidewalk with No Signs of Injuries

Green Book Actor Discovered Dead: An actor who starred in the Academy Award-winning film “Green Book,” Frank Vallelonga Jr., was recognized as the man found dead on a New York City sidewalk this week.

The 60-year-old Vallelonga is the son of former Copacabana bouncer Tony Lip (Frank Vallelonga Sr.), who Viggo Mortensen depicted in the 2018 movie. In the best picture-winning film, Frank Vallelonga Jr. portrayed a relative of Mortensen’s character.

A 911 caller who saw the body near a factory early Monday morning in the Bronx reported seeing it there. The cause of death has not been identified, and police did not discover any evident evidence of trauma.

On Thursday, Vallelonga was recognized by the police, and his manager later confirmed that he was the actor.

Manager Melissa Prophet described the situation as “absolutely tragic and frightening.”

Green Book Actor Found Dead

A day after the body was discovered, a 35-year-old man was accused of hiding a corpse. The inquiry was still ongoing.

According to the IMDB website, Vallelonga has more than a dozen acting credits dating back to 1994, including a role in “The Sopranos.”

The 1962 tour of the South by Black musician Don Shirley and the senior Vallelonga, who served as Shirley’s driver and bodyguard, inspired the movie “Green Book.”

Later in his life, the elder Vallelonga rose to fame as an actor and played mob boss Carmine Lupertazzi on “The Sopranos.”
