Austin Butler is paying tribute to singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley after her death at 54 this week. “My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie,” the Elvis star said in a statement to EW on Saturday.

“I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love, and her authenticity will always be remembered.”

Presley, the only child of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley, died Thursday in Calabasas, Calif., at the home of her ex-husband Danny Keough. It is thought that she died of a heart attack. They had two children: Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020, and Riley Keough, an actress.

After playing The King in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic, he became close with Lisa Marie and her mother, Priscilla Presley. Just two days before she died, Presley and her mother went to the Golden Globes to support the film. When Butler won Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture, it made Presley’s mother cry.
