Carlin addressed Elise personally, saying, “You shared your extraordinary talents with us with love, with humor, with wit and charisma. And I love you, and we all love you.”

According to her station profile, Finch began working at WCBS-TV in 2007 as a weekend meteorologist. She joined the weekday morning news crew alongside co-anchors Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge. She joined Cindy Hsu on the 9 a.m. newscast in September.

After Finch d!ed, the station claimed in a memorial that she “fiercely” loved her family, especially her husband, WCBS photojournalist Graig Henriques. They met while working at WCBS-TV and were married for almost ten years.

Finch was a “devoted mother to her daughter Grace,” according to their obituary. She was also a Janet Jackson lover and strongly interested in entertainment. Carlin recalls “nerding out” over Jackson with Elise, who he described as “authentic” in person as she was on screen.

Carlin observed, “When Elise loved something, no matter what it was… she would talk a mile a minute.” “And you just saw that brain racing with happiness.”

Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said that a tree in Elise’s memory would be planted in town and urged her family to help choose a place. Elise tributes will also be shown on the jumbotron at Memorial Field all day Thursday.

The mayor told Elise’s family, “We just want you to know that we love you, honor you, and miss Elise, but that we will continue to keep her name, legacy, and memory alive.”
