Last week, a car launched from a tow truck ramp on a Georgia highway, flew through the air, and crashed to the ground; the entire event was captured on video.
Last Wednesday, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Georgia State Patrol on a highway when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff’s office.
A grass median separates the two sides of the highway, and a flatbed tow truck with its ramp lowered was parked on the opposite side of the road.
When an apparently distracted driver accelerated up the lowered ramp, a sheriff’s deputy with a body camera was walking toward the tow truck.
The car struck the tow truck’s cab as it went airborne after blowing through a barrier at the back of the ramp.
A person can be seen walking in front of the tow truck in the bodycam video just before the car accelerates up the ramp. The vehicle takes off behind the person as they reach the highway’s edge.

According to CBS affiliate WCTV, the car flipped over on its passenger side and hit another vehicle in the opposite lane.
After a while, the first car came to rest upside down as smoke erupted from the collision.
The driver, a 21-year-old Florida woman from Tallahassee, survived the collision but sustained critical injuries.
