More Classified Documents Found at Biden’s Home!

More Classified Documents Found: A person familiar with the situation said that President Joe Biden’s staff found at least one more set of classified documents in a place other than the Washington office he used after leaving the Obama administration.

Since November, when classified documents were found in Biden’s old office, his staff has been looking for any other classified materials that might be in different places he used, said the source, who spoke anonymously to give details about the ongoing investigation.

When asked for a comment, the White House didn’t give one. The Department of Justice had nothing to say. CBS News was the first to report that Biden had found classified papers in an office he used after being vice president. This was on Monday.

It wasn’t clear right away what the supplementary documents’ classification level, number, and exact location were. It also did not appear immediately when the new records were found or if the search for any other classified information Biden may have from the Obama administration was over.

A person with knowledge of the situation said that Biden’s staff has been looking through documents stored in places other than his old Washington office to see if any more classified documents need to be given to the National Archives and looked at by the Justice Department.

The search was said to be thorough, and the goal was to find all classified documents that Biden may have accidentally put in boxes when he moved out of the vice president’s office in January 2017. Sen. Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, responded to the NBC News story about the new documents by tweeting the words “Special counsel.”

Monday, the White House confirmed in a statement that a “small number of documents” with classified markings that seemed to be from the Obama administration had been found on November 2 at a Washington think tank that Biden was involved with.

Biden’s lawyers were cleaning out their office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement when they found the documents in a locked closet, said Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, in a statement Monday.

In February 2018, the University of Pennsylvania rented a group of offices for the center. One of the offices was for Biden to use as a private citizen in Washington. Biden told reporters on Tuesday that the discovery “surprised” him and that he didn’t know what was in the documents.

Three congressional staffers said that the chair and vice chair of the Senate intelligence committee have written to Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines to ask for access to the classified documents, a damage assessment by the intelligence community, and a briefing on both the Biden and Trump documents. The staffers said that this request is similar to how the committee asked for information after the raid at Mar-a-Lago, the Florida resort of former President Donald Trump.

Sauber said that Biden’s lawyers immediately told National Archives about the find, and the agency took over the papers the next day. Two people who know about the situation said that less than a dozen classified documents were found at the office.

The Archives told the Justice Department about the problem. A source close to the situation told NBC News on Monday that U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has asked John R. Lausch, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and a Trump appointee, to look into how the classified information got into the closet.

Biden said on Tuesday, “We’re fully cooperating.” The Justice Department is looking into whether Trump should have kept more than 100 classified documents even though he has been asked to give them back.

Trump has made fun of Biden’s find on his Truth Social account and said he was unfairly targeted by federal investigators, even though the facts of his case and Biden’s are very different. He wrote, “A huge scam.”

After the NBC report, Bradley Moss, a lawyer who specializes in national security issues and is often critical of Trump, tweeted: “Nothing I’ve seen so far has made me think that Biden and his team, at least for now, are not at risk of being caught doing something illegal. I also have no reason to think this changes the odds of Trump being charged. So, this carelessness by Biden’s staff irritates me.”
