Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin Announces Cancer Diagnosis: On December 13, 1962, American society welcomed Jamin Ben Raskin, a future lawyer, and politician. He has represented Maryland’s 8th congressional district in Congress since 2017. From 2007 through 2016, he represented Democrats in the Maryland State Senate.
Montgomery County, a suburb of Washington, DC, was once a part of the town. It extends to the Pennsylvania state line and encompasses rural Frederick County. Due to districting changes in 2022, this area no longer comprises the entirety of Montgomery County.
Raskin is the head of the House Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Liberties and a co-chair of the Congressional Freethought Caucus. After the attack on the U.S. Capitol, he oversaw the second impeachment of President Donald Trump.
He was a professor at the American University Washington College of Law and an expert in constitutional law before being elected to Congress. The Law and Government LL.M. program and the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project were both developed and overseen by him.

Well-known Jan. 6 committee member and former impeachment attempt manager Representative Jamie Raskin said on Wednesday that he has cancer. Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin stated, “After a few days of tests, I was told I have Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, a serious but treatable form of cancer.”
Raskin plans to undergo “a course of chemo-immunotherapy as an outpatient.” Raskin, who will be 60 years old in the new Congress, was chosen last week by his fellow Democrats to be the ranking member on the Oversight and Reform Committee.

Raskin’s friends and coworkers are cheering him on as he undergoes therapy. New York Democrat Ritchie Torres tweeted that Congressman Raskin is “a national treasure” and “an oasis of legal integrity and knowledge at a time when both are sorely needed to safeguard democracy.”
Aside from that, he added, “I am hoping for his robust and rapid recovery while he is having cancer treatment.” We need you, Jamie, for the sake of your country. On Thursday, Raskin received well wishes from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, an outspoken opponent of Democrats and the Jan. 6 committee.
