Former NFL player Chris Howard is the subject of Gabrielle Union’s revelations regarding her previous marriage. During an appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast on Monday, the “Bring It On” actress, now married to NBA star Dwyane Wade, revealed that she was unfaithful to Howard and alleged that he was unfaithful to her as well.

While Union and Shepard were married for the first time, they continued to date outside their marriage. “Part of it was monitoring his schedule, and when he told me that, my response was, “Oh, that’s what you’re doing?” It’s going to strike you; I can tell.”

Union continued by saying that, at the time, she did not feel guilty about what she had done since “Similar feelings of entitlement existed in me. I was taking care of every expense and worked my tail off, so I figured I deserved the fruits of my labor.”

That “whoever has the most gets to do whatever the heck they want,” as her father had said before her, was her belief. “It never worked properly, and it never has.” A therapist reportedly told Union that the only thing he and his wife had in common was their interest in “other people,” and he agreed, calling the marriage “a foolish relationship that should have never gotten out of the courting period.”

After meeting in 2000, the “Strange World” star and Howard tied the knot in 2001 and stayed together until 2006. Union wed Wade in 2014; the couple had a daughter, Kaavia, now 4. In addition, she is the stepmother to Wade’s three biological offspring.
