FBI Increases Reward For Information On Pipe Bombs!

FBI Increases Reward For Information On Pipe Bombs: The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Explosives, and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC, have announced a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for planting pipe bombs near the headquarters of the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee the night before the 2021 US Capitol riot.

The bureau first offered a $50,000 prize in the wake of the violence; as of Wednesday, it has been increased to $100,000. The added sum arrives just before the insurrection’s second anniversary. Since discovering the pipe bombs, which were functional but never detonated, the inquiry has been shrouded in secrecy.

With the higher price, “we urge anyone who may have previously hesitated to call us — or who may not have known they had valuable information,” said David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI field office in DC.

To that end, “the FBI and our partners continue to work relentlessly to bring the perpetrator of these dangerous attempted acts to justice,” Sundberg said. According to the statement, authorities have “evaluated over 500 tips” and “examined more than 39,000 videos” in their search for the pipe bomber.

They have also “conducted around 1,000 interviews,” inspected 1,200 homes, and visited more than 1,200 companies. According to a report given by the acting chief of the US Capitol to lawmakers in January and an FBI poster, the bombs were discovered within minutes of each other on January 6 at around 1 p.m. ET, just as a mob of angry supporters of the then-President Donald Trump descended on the building following a nearby rally with the president.

The FBI claims that on January 5, 2021, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., the suspect planted two pipe bombs. FBI security film shows the suspect wearing a face mask, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and black and light grey Nike Air Max Speed Turf sneakers with a yellow emblem.

The FBI released more evidence in September 2021 with the statement, “studies of the suspect’s behavior in video footage and interviews with neighbors in the Capitol Hill neighborhood have led the FBI to believe the suspect is not from the region.”

According to prior CNN reporting, the devices were loaded with explosive powder and attached to egg timers. DC Metropolitan Police, the ATF, and the US Capitol Police arrived in the area, and robots detonated the devices safely at the two offices less than a quarter mile apart and a few blocks south of the Capitol.

As the second anniversary of the Capitol riot approaches, Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement on Wednesday that the Justice Department’s work prosecuting those who attacked democracy is “far from over.”

Garland remarked that two years ago, while legislators gathered to confirm the results of a presidential election, the United States Capitol was attacked. A vital part of our democracy, the orderly transition of power from one administration to the next, was disrupted as “perpetrators attacked police officers, targeted and assaulted members of the media.”

More than 950 people have been arrested for their alleged participation in the disturbance, with over 284 charged with assault and 99 accused of using a lethal or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer, according to revised numbers given by the Department of Justice.

The agency reported that 484 of the roughly 1,000 defendants had entered guilty pleas, and 40 defendants have been found guilty following trials in the District of Columbia. Only one of the defendants charged with the riot on January 6 has been found not guilty on all charges.

About 350 people, including 250 who reportedly assaulted police, are still wanted by authorities following the incident at the Capitol. If you think this is interesting, please share it with your friends. For more updates and the latest news regarding celebrities, Visit Lighthousejournal.org.
