The Golden Bachelor Release Date: New Lead, Trailer, And Latest Update!

The Golden Bachelor, the long-awaited senior Bachelor Nation spin-off, is almost here. On July 17, ABC introduced its silver-haired star, and fans are going crazy about 71-year-old Gerry Turner (pronounced “Gary”).

Yes, the formula that produces The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and The Bachelor in Paradise now includes a version populated by love-seeking boomers. It will undoubtedly be gold.

Members of Bachelor Nation will be aware that this historic event has been in the works since 2020—but that doesn’t make the announcement any less exciting! According to ABC’s official description, the show follows “one hopeless romantic who is given a second chance at love” looking for a spouse “to share the sunset years of life.” Personally, I can’t think of any other idea that will revitalize Bachelor Nation more than adding older adults to its cast.

According to the show’s description, “the women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss, and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities.” The Golden Bachelor appears to be the most wholesome of spin-offs.

When does The Golden Bachelor Premiere?

It’s unclear when the first episode of The Golden Bachelor will premiere, but ABC has confirmed that it will be part of the fall roster, with fresh episodes airing on Mondays at 10 p.m. Furthermore, the new lead will be revealed on July 17. The only drawback is that the series is part of the network’s “strike-proof” schedule, which allows business to continue even if the Writers Guild of America goes on strike.

The network also revealed that the show will air on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET, immediately following Dancing with the Stars. The programs will last around an hour, as is customary. So it’s time to start planning your siestas.

If I had to guess, The Golden Bachelor will most likely premiere in September, following the conclusion of The Bachelorette. Charity’s season of The Bachelorette, which premiered on June 26, is about halfway through and is airing on a shortened schedule. That all makes sense now that The Golden Bachelor has been announced!

Who is the New Lead?

Please join me in welcoming Gerry Turner of Indiana. The 71-year-old is a grandfather and father of two children. According to his ABC bio, he formerly worked as a restauranteur.

He also “lives in his dream house on a beautiful lake,” and “hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts.”

ABC has not yet released the names of the women appearing in The Golden Bachelor, but the cast will consist entirely of women over 60. ABC issued a casting call last year seeking “active and outgoing” older women and men.

The ensemble of the upcoming season has a lot of promise to breathe new energy into the franchise. Many Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons have been heavily criticized for being tailored toward a digital age.

Many participants appear to be on the show solely to increase their social media following, which makes the show…predictable and uninteresting (sorry, Zach).

Is There a Trailer?

Yes, there is a trailer out now that is quite amusing (it says stuff like “he’s sliding in your DMs with postage” and “posts thirst traps in a leather-bound album”).

Here it is:
