We have good news for all of you Sweet Magnolias fans!
Serenity returns for a third season following the cliffhanger of season 2 (more on that in a moment). The third season of Sweet Magnolias has been renewed by Netflix, contrary to popular belief. Netflix had made viewers believe that the future of the show was just as uncertain as Helen’s love life.
Even if there aren’t many more specifics just yet, this is a promising start. Read up on all the information we have so far regarding Sweet Magnolias season 3, including our best estimations about the show’s debut date and cast members.
When is the Sweet Magnolias season 3 release date?
There will now be a third season of Sweet Magnolias! The joyous news was revealed on May 4 by Variety, but no release date for the Netflix drama was provided. However, it is possible that we will return to Serenity in early 2023.
So, given that Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias was released in February of 2022, we should expect a similar release date for Season 3. If we’re optimistic, at least!

What will season 3 be about?
According to JoAnna Garcia Swisher’s prediction, the following season will pick up just where season 2 left off. “I don’t think you can come back months later and say, ‘Whatever happened to Helen?’ and “Is Justin in jail?” “,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I think it will probably start similar to where we left off.” Why not go all the way?”
She is correct (and we’re convinced she is), and season 3 will answer all of our questions following season 2’s cliffhanger end. Our first choice is: When Ryan proposes, will Helen accept, or will she continue to pursue Erik? When asked whether she sees it “going either way” or “going either way,” Heather Headley told TVLine that she sees it “going either way.” But don’t hold your breath for a decision immediately away: “I wouldn’t guess that timescale,” says showrunner and executive producer Sheryl Anderson in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to Cal and Maddie, the show’s other perennially thorny romance is the one between Serenity and Max. As the second season progressed, we learned more about Cal’s history of temper tantrums and witnessed Maddie’s gradual estrangement from him. In the season finale, Cal was arrested for a fight at Sullivan’s after he ended up in a bar brawl. Sheryl explains in an interview with Glamour that the encounter prompted her to ask two crucial inquiries: “How do you generate confidence? Is it possible to reestablish confidence after a trust has been broken?” The upcoming season will be a “chance to dive into that” if all goes according to plan.
Let’s not forget Dana Sue, either. When Miss Frances died and left her a large inheritance, everything seemed to be going well for her. This was excellent news until the Sullivans began to be targeted for unknown reasons, with vandals slashing the tires of Dana Sue’s vehicle. Who would do something like that? However, it appears that we will soon get the answer to this question.
