The second season of BEASTARS is set to come out on Netflix on July 15, 2021, during the summer anime season of 2021.
The second season of BEASTARS came out on Japanese TV on January 6, 2021. This was during the winter anime season of 2021. On January 5, 2021, Netflix Japan began to stream the first episode.
The second season of BEASTARS came out on Japanese TV on January 6, 2021. This was during the winter anime season of 2021. On January 5, 2021, Netflix Japan began to stream the first episode.
On November 5, 2020, a new trailer for Season 2 of BEASTARS came out.
In July 2020, BEASTARS creator Paru Itagaki said on NX that Season 2 of the anime would air in 2021. “It’s being made right now. Please get ready for it!”
BEASTARS Season 2 will be available on Netflix in the U.S. in July 2021. This is because Netflix usually doesn’t release shows outside of Japan until the last episode has aired there.
As Legoshi searches for Tem’s mysterious killer in Season 2 of BEASTARS on Netflix, the story could go in a dangerous direction. How far will the story go? That’s the question.
The manga BEASTARS finally came to an end, and the last chapter came out in Weekly Shonen Champion in October 2020. The creator had been giving hints about when the series would end, but we don’t want to give away how the ending will affect Legoshi x Haru to fans who only watch the anime.
Studio Orange, an animation company, is making the BEASTARS anime. Studio Orange has confirmed that they are making the second season. Studio Orange also tweeted in July 2020, “Yes, we’re still making movies!”
The anime Land of the Lustrous, which was made with CG animation, is what the studio is best known for. With the BEASTARS anime, the studio may have topped itself by making a beautiful CG anime that looks like 2D animation but has 3D effects.
People who have worked on popular anime in the past are on the team for this project. Shinichi Matsumi, who worked on Rage Of Bahamut Genesis, is in charge of the project. The scripts are being written by Nanami Higuchi, who wrote Little Witch Academia.
Saga Of Tanya Nao Ootsu, who made the characters for Evil and Banana Fish, is in charge of character design. Eiji Inomoto, who worked on Ghost in the Shell: Arise, is the head of CG animation. Satoru Kousaki, who wrote the music for Oreimo and Monogatari, is making the music.

Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 12 Release Date & Hiatus Explained
Why Season 2 of BEASTARS won’t be on Netflix in the US until the summer of 2021
The first season of BEASTARS came out on Netflix Japan on Oct. 8, 2019. On the other hand, BEASTARS came out on Netflix in the United States on March 13, 2020.
The BEASTARS anime has a total of 12 episodes, so it is a single-cour anime.
A “cour” is a three-month period of TV programming that follows the seasons of the year. Most seasons of anime are made up of 12 or 13 episodes.
BEASTARS episodes were shown on Netflix Japan at the same time they were shown on Japanese TV. Netflix U.S. usually waits to put anime on its service in North America and other places until the last episode is out.
Based on how long the delay was, it seems like the streaming giant made everyone wait weeks or months for the Spanish, French, German, and English sub/dub releases.
Given how long it took for the first season to come out, it’s not surprising that BEASTARS Season 2 will come out on Netflix in the U.S. in July 2021.
BEASTARS Season 3 anime very likely
From a business point of view, just being exclusive to Netflix is a win. Netflix has been spending a lot of money on making its own anime shows. So, why not get a second season of BEASTARS? After all, it would be terrible to leave people who only watch anime in the dark about who killed poor Tem.
For at least a few seasons, Netflix has been known to make a new anime TV show (good things come in threes). The Seven Deadly Sins Season 4, Hero Mask Season 2, and Kakegurui XX are just some of the anime sequels that came out in 2019. (see our article on Kakegurui Season 3).
We know that Ultraman Season 2, Grappler Baki Season 2, and Aggretsuko Season 3 are all being made. The ending of the 2019 Revisions anime also seems to set up Revisions Season 2, and the last episode of the first part of Kengan Ashura showed a glimpse of Season 2.
BEASTARS Season 2 was already being planned out, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that it will start in the first half of 2021. Studio Orange hasn’t announced any other projects for 2021 besides the Godzilla: Singular Point project with Studio Bones (animator of My Hero Academia Season 5).
BEASTARS Season 3 could be a quick follow-up because Studio Orange makes more money from Netflix than from the anime industry as a whole, so they have a financial reason to keep the money coming.
But because of the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus, there were delays in the industry as a whole. It’s likely that early production started sometime in 2020, but it’s not clear how much COVID-19 changed Studio Orange’s production schedule.
Before COVID-19, it usually took about six months to make an anime season, but BEASTARS Season 2 was still being made in July 2020. Let’s just be happy that the next anime will be out soon.
BEASTARS manga’s ending: Creator Paru Itagaki finished in October 2020
The story of the anime is based on Paru Itagaki’s BEASTARS manga series. The BEASTARS manga series has been in Weekly Shonen Champion since September 2016. It has won awards for being one of the best new shonen series, along with The Promised Neverland (see our article on The Promised Neverland Season 2 anime).
As of August 6, 2020, Volume 20 of the BEASTARS manga had come out. When the volume of the manga came out, the wraparound jacket cover said that Season 2 of BEASTARS would come out in January 2021. BEASTARS Volume 21 is scheduled to come out on October 8, 2020. BEASTARS Volume 22, the last book, is set to come out on January 8, 2021. production. Let’s just be happy that the next anime will be out soon.
The official English translation of the BEASTARS manga has been licenced to be published by VIZ Media. With only four volumes translated so far, the English version of BEASTARS is a long way behind the Japanese version.
The good news is that every two months, VIZ Media has been putting out a new volume. Volume 8 came out on September 15, 2020, and Volume 9 is set to come out on November 17, 2020. If that rate of publishing keeps up, Volume 10 should come out in January 2021, Volume 11 in March 2021, Volume 12 in May 2021, and so on.
Before the ending was released, Paru hadn’t said anything about how the whole story would end. But the main character Legoshi said early on that he liked tragedies, so fans who only watch anime have to wonder if the story will get even darker.
People often compare the BEASTARS manga to Disney’s Zootopia movie because of how dark it is and how the animals act like people. This is a good comparison because Paru herself said in an interview with Comic Natalie that Disney movies had an effect on her work.
Paru remembers that when she was young, she had a stuffed Dumbo and watched VHS tapes with her three sisters. She thinks that Disney’s works made it easier for people to accept animals with human traits, which made it easier for people to accept BEASTARS.
“The reason you don’t feel weird when you read [the BEASTARS] manga and the animals talk like people is because Disney is in your genes,” Paru said with a laugh.
Paru likes Tim Burton’s movies a lot, which might explain why she’s so into dark themes. When asked why her works dealt with more serious topics, she said that she always thinks about such things.
“I wasn’t bullied or anything like that,” she said, “but I think I have a tendency to look at things from a very sideways point of view.” “Every time I go to sleep, I wonder, ‘Why is the world so dirty?’ Is there any power that works against that? But I think that anger is in everyone.”
In an interview with Ramen para Dos in September 2019, the creator of the BEASTARS manga was asked how many volumes she thinks she’ll write. Paru replied, “I would like the work to be no longer than twenty volumes.”
In January 2020, Paru said that the end of the BEASTARS manga was “in sight” in Weekly Shonen Champion. The writer/artist says she will put everything she has into the work until the end and hopes fans will follow her on the journey.
Since most manga volumes have nine chapters, and Volume 20 ended with Chapter 178, it seemed possible at the time that BEASTARS Volume 20 would have the last chapter.
But manga artists are known for making bad guesses about how a series will end. BEASTARS Volume 22 will have the last chapter, which means that the ending of the manga was made longer than the author had planned.
Weekly Shonen Champion magazine put out BEASTARS Chapter 194 on September 23, 2020, and then said that the last chapter was only three chapters away. If nothing goes wrong, BEASTARS Chapter 197, the last chapter, will come out in Japan on October 14, 2020.
Since there are usually nine chapters in a manga volume, and Volume 20 ended with Chapter 178, it’s likely that Volume 21 will go up to Chapter 187. Since that’s the case, the last chapter will be in Volume 22.
BEASTARS manga sequel is based in the Beast Complex manga world
Let’s be glad that Paru found ways to make the story longer without making it seem too long. A manga sequel to BEASTARS that takes place in the same world has already been planned.
The series is based on the author’s previous manga, Beast Complex, which has been called the “origin of BEASTARS.” Beast Complex was a collection of short stories about how animals that looked like people had trouble living with animals of other species.
In October 2020, Weekly Shonen Champion said that Paru will start a new Beast Complex miniseries in January 2021. Over time, more information will be shared.
The first seven chapters of the Beast Complex manga will also be released in English by VIZ Media. The volume is scheduled to come out in March 2021.
BEASTARS manga compared to the anime
In the past, Studio Orange has made anime versions of manga stories that really got to the heart of the story. The question is whether they will be able to give the BEASTARS anime that same magical touch.
The beginning of the manga and anime are pretty similar, but the anime’s CG-animated silhouette of Tem’s killer gives more clues about who killed him.
The rest of the first half of Episode 1 is rearranged so that Haru, the dwarf rabbit, is introduced before Legoshi’s famous scene where he lets his carnivorous instincts take over for a moment. The anime also cuts out a lot of dialogue to shorten the story, but (so far) it always hits the key points that are needed to keep the characters’ personalities intact.
Based on the pace set early in the first season, each episode on average used a little more than four manga chapters. For instance, Episode 9 was changed to fit up to Chapter 33.
The writers at Studio Orange ended up trying to end Episode 12 by adapting up to Chapter 48, which is in the middle of Volume 6.
Note: The next paragraph has some small spoilers for BEASTARS Season 2.
The casting news for the first season gave us a hint about where BEASTARS Season 2 will start in the manga. When adding new characters to a manga, the author chooses the species that fits the story best. She also tries to keep the number of carnivorous and herbivorous species equal.
This is a hint because the plot of Volume 8 got darker because of a certain character. So, she added a happy, funny character named Pina the goat… The first season of the anime didn’t have Pina on the list of characters.
So, Season 2 of BEASTARS is likely to slow down a bit and use Chapters 49–98 of Volumes 7–11 as a basis. The good news is that such an ending would leave plenty of room for BEASTARS Season 3, and BEASTARS Season 4 would probably wrap up the story.
The only bad thing is that people who only read manga in English had to wait until July 2020, when Volume 7 came out in English, to start reading ahead of the anime.
BEASTARS Season 2 spoilers (plot summary/synopsis)
The last time we saw Legoshi, he had found Hari and saved her from a group of lion gangsters called the Shishigumi who wanted to feed the rabbit to their boss. Chief Lion, the leader of the Shishigumi, was killed by Legoshi and Louis. After that, Louis took over the criminal group.
After fighting the Shishigumi and barely making it out alive, Legoshi and Haru spend the night in a love hotel. When Legoshi says he loves Haru, the hopes of any Legoshi x Haru shippers come true.
Haru does understand how he feels, but she is still scared by the fact that she instinctively thrust her arm into Legoshi’s open jaws. To make Haru happy, Legoshi promises to get stronger and control his urges to eat, and Haru promises to wait for him while he works hard.
At the end of the anime’s first season, there was a hint about who the villain of BEASTARS Season 2 would be. The camera was in the point of view of the person who killed Tem.
Back at Cherryton School, the Council for Consolidation of All Organisms meets to decide who will be the new Beastar, since no one has held the title for five years. By tradition, the Beastar is made up of recent graduates from top schools like Cherryton.
Louis and Juno are both trying to get the title, but there are some people who think Legoshi would make a better Beastar. Legoshi doesn’t care, and he doesn’t even know he’s being trained for the part. Since Legoshi is known for saving a herbivore, these people hope they can get Legoshi to figure out what happened to Tem.
With Legoshi’s help, the search for Tem’s killer goes on, and it’s possible that the killer is closer than anyone thought. As Legoshi tries to find out who killed Tem, a mysterious person attacks and overpowers him.
Legoshi realises that he needs to train both his mind and body to find Tem’s killer. He quits school and goes through a self-discovery process to build up his confidence. Legoshi also goes to the “doctor” in the back alley, Panda Gouhin, to get stronger and learn how to fight.
Legoshi does eventually face the killer, and the final battle is set to happen on New Year’s Eve. Even though he has been training for a long time, Legoshi knows that he must make a cruel choice in order to get strong enough. Surprisingly, Louis is willing to help by making a big sacrifice, but Legoshi’s strength gain comes at a high personal cost. He has to break the law to take down the real villain, which hurts his chances of getting together with Haru in the future.
Fans of anime will have to wait until BEASTARS Season 2 comes out to see what happens next. Keep watching!
