Actor Kiefer Sutherland of Young Guns said lockdown helped him realize how much he “really likes” his spouse.
The 55-year-old award-winning actor opened up about recording Bloor Street during the pandemic, which, he claims, made him realize how much he “really likes” his house and his girlfriend, Cindy Vela.
In an interview with comedian Alan Carr for his Life’s a Beach podcast, the 24 actors discussed how the lockdown was an exceptionally emotional period for him.
Kiefer said: “I found it interesting that during this incredibly difficult time, which has been this last year and a half of the pandemic, that I started writing these really hopeful songs.”
“And I think it was because I became acutely aware of how lucky I am
“I’ve been able to have this career and been able to make films and do theatre and now make music,” he added.
The musician explained that because of the lockdown, he was now spending more time at home than ever.
The time spent at home, Kiefer said, had taught him how much he loved his home and his relationship with his girlfriend.
He said: “I was in my house for the first time in my life, you know, because I spend most of my time on the road.
“I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I really like my house’ and, ‘Oh my God, I really like my girlfriend.'”
“That helps!” Alan interjected
Kiefer continued: “All these things that when you’re on the road a lot,” he said before cutting off.
“You’re like, ‘I think I love her, but we haven’t spent so much time together,'” he mused while reflecting on his relationship.
He went on: “But all of a sudden I just felt really fortunate, I felt really lucky.
