Is Kirsten Storms Sick: After undergoing brain surgery, Kirsten Storms has decided to take a break from General Hospital. On Monday, the Soap Opera Network revealed that Storms would take time off to focus on her health. Maxie Jones, played by Storms, departed Port Charles with her baby and went to Texas on the July 19 episode of the daytime TV drama, marking the end of Storms’ recurring role for the foreseeable future.
Attempts by ET to contact Storms’ representatives for comment have gone unanswered. Storms disclosed in June that she suffered “random health concerns” and had brain surgery. She thanked her supporters for their encouragement after revealing that she had been diagnosed with cancer and had surgery to remove a giant cyst.
“I spent the last few years having sporadic health difficulties that I brushed off as side effects to my medications or just something I was experiencing due to age,” Storms wrote. “My orthopedist is so meticulous that he ordered an MRI of my head even though it wasn’t his specialty when I went in for treatment for the terrible neck pain I’ve been having for the past few months (I assumed this neck pain was also causing my frequent migraines). An outstanding physician, for sure.”
She said, “That’s when we discovered a very enormous, extremely full of fluid cyst linked to the lower part of the brain.” I consider myself extremely lucky to have had access to such a brilliant neurosurgeon who quickly diagnosed the problem and provided a solution.
In addition to reassuring everyone that the cyst was not malignant, Storms said she would be “on the mend” for a while before returning to work. It’s not known when Storms will return to General Hospital.

“Three days ago, I tested positive for COVID after thinking I had bronchitis,” Storms said. “I was sick the first day, day and a half, and now every time I sleep, when I wake up, I feel a little bit better.”
Storms later joined her ex-“GH” co-star, and real-life BFF Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu Spencer) for an Instagram live chat with followers, telling them, “I was about to go over to Emme’s place the other night for dinner, and I was starting not to feel very good.” The next day, she continued, “I woke up feeling just dreadful.
A case of bronchitis? In an urgent care setting, I was given a test for COVIR and found to be positive. This precipitated a rapid deterioration in my mood [he laughs]. After an eternity, I finally reached Emme and told her, “I thought I was going to die.”

Storms, a lifelong anti-vaxxer, said, “I still had it. I don’t remember where I heard it. It was exciting to move in on the day before Christmas Eve. After that, I felt physically and mentally drained, and I believe that my immune system had already been damaged due to lack of sleep and overexertion.
Now that she is doing much better, Storms reflected on her original experience and how things developed from there. “To be very frank, the first day was the worst, but after each night of sleep, I wake up feeling better than I did the night before. That’s why I’m in a good mood today.

The World Health Organization recommends that patients infected with COVID-19 stay isolated for 5 days, and then, if their symptoms improve (no fever for 24 hours), they should wear a mask for another 5 days.
