On the 2013 TLC show Who Do You Think You Are?, she learned that her maternal grandfather served in the German army during World War II. This made her cry. Her parents had a house on Martha’s Vineyard, so she spent the summers there.

She went to Livingston High School but didn’t want to be there and didn’t like the “student-teacher-asshole ratio.” Handler has two sisters and three brothers. Her oldest brother, Chet, was killed while hiking in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming when he was 21.

At the time, she was nine years old. She moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles when she was 19. She lived with her aunt in Bel Air and worked as a waitress to pay for her acting career.

At age 21, Handler became a stand-up comedian after telling her drunk driving story to a class of other criminals. They thought it was funny. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989 and fought it for more than 15 years until she died in 2006.

Ted Harbert

Early in Chelsea’s career, she was in a relationship with Ted Harbert, the former CEO of Comcast and head of E! From 2005 to 2010, they were together. Ted has been a steady presence in the entertainment business.

He started working at ABC, where he eventually rose to the position of chairman. Before becoming the president of E! Networks, he worked for other big companies like NBC Studios, where he was the president.

Ted was in charge of E! when Chelsea’s famous talk show, Chelsea Lately, first aired. In an interview with Marie Claire in 2012, she said they broke up because their work and personal lives were too mixed up.

“When I got home from work, Ted would say, “Do you want to watch your show?” I’d say, “No, I just got home from my show. I don’t want to do that at all.’ In the end, that was why it didn’t work out. She said at the time, “I think.”

50 Cent

Chelsea had a short relationship with rapper 50 Cent, 46, after she broke up with Ted. Even though we don’t know much about their short-lived relationship, they seem to get along well.

When 50 Cent supported then-President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, Chelsea made fun of him by responding to a tweet saying, “You used to be my favorite ex-boyfriend.” 50 called him the wrong person after Chelsea gave him a second chance at love on The Tonight Show.

Even though it was a public callout, the two seemed to have much fun. Even though they have fought in public, it looks like Chelsea and the Get Rich or Die Trying rapper are still close. When Chelsea was taken to the hospital in February 2022 for an unknown health scare, a source told HollywoodLife that the rapper ensured she was okay.

“When Fifty heard that Chelsea had been hospitalized and had to cancel some of her shows, he called her to see how she was doing and to check on her,” a source said. “Fifty cares about Chelsea; no matter what, he’ll always have her back.”

Andre Balazs

After her short relationship with 50 Cent, Chelsea dated businessman and hotelier Andre Balazs, 65, on and off. In 2012, Chelsea talked on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast about the first time they broke up. She said that the couple was having trouble making their relationship work because of work and their relationship.

She told Us Weekly, “He lived in New York, and I lived in Los Angeles, so we were always flying back and forth to see each other.” “It was just too much. But I’d rather be with someone far away because I don’t want to deal with them daily.”

People say the breakup seemed permanent after she talked about it on Chelsea Lately with her friend Mary McCormack. On The West Wing, a star said, “Let’s talk about your single situation.”
