In The Last of Us episode seven, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Riley (Storm Reid) finally had their long-awaited kiss.
To the satisfaction of ardent game fans, the showrunners have frequently departed from the game’s screenplays yet stuck to the spirit of the original material when highlighting Ellie and Riley’s connection.
The program sparked curiosity about Bella Ramsey’s romantic life.
Bella Ramsey Has Never Dated Anyone Throughout Her Career
No one is Bella Ramsey’s girlfriend. Since she began performing at 11 years old, Ramsey has never been seen dating. Her apparent top priority appears to be career growth.
Ramsey discloses very little about her personal life; her non-binary identity may be the most intimate detail.
“I guess my gender has always been very fluid,” she told The New York Times.
“Someone would call me ‘she’ or ‘her,’ and I wouldn’t think about it, but I knew that if someone called me ‘he,’ it was a bit exciting.”
The actress expressed her distaste for pronouns: “Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like, but in terms of pronouns, I really couldn’t care less.”
Ramsey has defended how LGBTQ+ narratives are portrayed in The Last of Us. Despite being present in the game, some online users have criticized the series for featuring LGBTQ+ couples. Ramsey stated to Sky News:
“It’s in the game, like the Ellie and Riley stories, and Bill and Frank are hinted at in the game. I think it’s cool. Just because of the apocalypse doesn’t mean that gay people don’t exist.”
In an interview with GQ UK magazine, Ramsey reprimanded disgruntled viewers and urged them not to watch the show if they had issues with LGBTQ+ storylines. She uttered:
“They’re gonna have to get used to it. If you don’t want to watch the show because it has gay storylines because it has a trans character, that’s on you, and you’re missing out. It isn’t gonna make me afraid. I think that comes from a place of defiance.”
