As “Avatar: The Way of Water” gets closer to making USD 2 billion at the worldwide box office, director James Cameron says it shows that moviegoers still enjoy going to the theatre, even though streaming is the most popular way to watch movies these days.
Cameron talked to “Variety” during the Golden Globes’ Official Digital Pre-Show. Cameron said, “I’m not thinking of it that way.” Instead, he said, “I’m thinking of it as us going back to theatres around the world.”
They’re even going back to theatres in China, where a big surge of people is interested in Covid. As a group, we are saying, “We need this!” We should go to the theatre.
